WordPress CCbill integration

Magic Members is a wordpress plug in, claiming to have it all. Mainly it’s the only plug-in i found with CCBill integration, which is exactly what I was looking for. I got super excited even before I got to their page.

Once on magicmembers.com, I was in heaven. It does everything I’m looking for and on top of everything they have great customer suport! The price? Who cares!!! It has CCBill integration built in! I’m making thousands of dollars a day, I can afford two hundred dollar plug in! Even if they ask few thousand dollars for it, I’ll probably take it.

Ok, here is the catch! If it looks too good to be true, it’s probably NOT!

I rebuild one of my sites especially because of this plug in. Maybe I should have done more research about these guys, but why? Their site looks so nice, so organized so convincing! They also own few “review” sites about themselves. Now that is something. I’ll make a product and I’ll build few more sites bragging about my product. It’s just so disappointing. What is?

While trying to install the plug in, I have contacted magic members customer support few times. I have gotten few responses, they were on the colder side, but who cares right? As long as they make this thing work and they stay 100% behind their product, I’m fine. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

This is what happened: When a visitor subscribed on my site, they were taken to ccbill form to pay. Then, they were re-directed back to my site. Unfortunately, their username and password did not work. Oh, it was in the wordpress system, but on default the membership status was set to inactive. I have spent whole holidays changing members status, answering complains and updating passwords. All while waiting to hear from magic members customer support. Yeah, and when they actually responded, they were always blaming me for having the wrong settings.
I even gave them admin access to my site. I provided snapshots from ccbill settings. I offered to provide ccbill access to my account to fix this. NEVER HEARD BACK from Magic Members people!

There’s more! If you have running site with subscribers, when you import them to your new magicmembers enabled wordpress site, they will all be set to INACTIVE. So if you have 20 or 2000 members, you’ll have to go through them, one by one and change their status to active before they will leave you forever.
Dear Magic Members staff, I still have the same email, my message is still in your Open Tickets system.

Did I mentioned that the magic members plug-in also messes up your javascript on NextGen Gallery?

Shooting with Brooke

While thinking about re-doing my site, first I thought, hmmm, who to feature first, who to include here as the pioneer of the new face. There are three names which came to my mind immediately and it’s absolutely impossible to choose the right one. Come to think of it, what makes it really easy to choose is the fact, that there is nothing to compete for. It’s just my site!
To be totally honest, I had a great time shooting with Brooke. I’m not sure what happened the first time we met, actually I know for a fact, that nothing happened, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make. Let me back up a bit.
The very first time I met Brooke was under bit of a stressful situation I went through with my old partners, but all I can say about that moment is, that she was pink. I mean pink from head to toe, including two pink suitcases, which I had the pleasure to load into the back of my rented van.
Here I am, thinking, OMG, what is this! Who is this, and who does she think she is? I’m going to shoot this girl? How the hell in the world are we two going to get along?
I don’t think, that we even talked about shooting until the next day on the location. We were driving far up in the desert to my buddy’s playground, actually graveyard of old cars, planes, military vehicles and bunch of other pretty cool stuff.
Since it’s over a year ago now, I remember finishing shooting Wendy outside by the old hangar wall.
Brooke came by, watched for a while, I hear her behind me having some comments. Back then, I was still not sure if she’s just trying to have a sincere conversation or she’s just being like – whatever.
We talked maybe for a 10 seconds, she assumed her position in front of this old truck, had her daisy dukes on and started to pose.
From that moment on, when my finger pressed the shutter release on my camera for the first time, right from that moment me and Brooke somehow connected. She was and is a super cool girl.
I could not believe it. I’m aware of the fact, that my instincts are little off sometimes with girls, however, this was really off! She is great. I had one of the best shooting couple of days in my life with her and Wendy together.
Ok Brooke, if you read this, you know I’m happily married! Don’t get any ideas home skillet!
We have parted ways for some time, Brooke wanted to go to school and do her own thing, but we have not parted our friendship. It’s that kind where you don’t have to call or text for really long time or ever, but you know, that you have someone out there somewhere you can count on.
